Llangland

May 1, 2009

Just a quick one. I came across this photo from a few weeks ago when I was down at Llangland beach, Gower. The day was absolutely beautiful and the fact it was out of season meant we had the place almost to ourselves. Might try and get down there again next week, weather permitting!

On Saturday I photographed my first wedding of the year at the sublime Weston Park – and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!
Weston Park is one of my favourite venues in the UK and Hannah and Jon’s wedding was a stunning wedding from start to end.
I began at 10am and went through the whole day with them, covering the preparations right through to the dancing and partying on the night. The whole wedding part was with us all day long and it makes such a difference. The reaction on the night to the few shots I did a speedy edit on straight out of camera and put on the MacBookPro for people to see brought a fantastic reaction from the guests and I can’t wait to get the album back and be able to send it to Hannah and Jon!
It is again another stunning Jorgsensen Album and from the design I completed earlier this week it looks amazing…I can’t wait to get it through now.

Here are a few of my favourites from the wedding…enjoy!

I LOVE this one!!

Believe it or not this is actually the original front of the house!

Hannah's Dad's speech went down a treat

And the best man's speech made Jon choke...

Again...stunning!

The Orangery is probably my favourite part of Weston Park

The D3 is a joy to use in low light

Can you tell why I love it?

Night time elegance

I love returning to the same angles I've used earlier in the day to show the passage of time...

Hope you’re both having a fantastic honeymoon.
See you soon.

Joe was one of the original Rock & Roll Stars to come out of the UK. One of the first UK session men, his early career highlights include playing guitar with Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash and other US stars when they came over to Europe. Joe went on to top the charts with his own records.
Although he doesn’t play any shows other than theatres in current times, for M6J9 he made an exception and when everything was (finally!) in place he came on…

It was nice to be working again at the Bankss Stadium and a few of the shots are below, just so you can get a feel for the night.
A full review of the show should be available online at http://www.m6j9.co.uk/reviews_previews/ later this week.

Saturday 11th April saw the start of my 2009 wedding season and what a stunning wedding it was!
Katie and David got married at Christ Church, Tettenhall Wood just a short walk from the Bride’s family home with the reception at The Moat House, Acton Trussell.
Although Katie’s family are based in Tettenhall, the Bride and Groom actually live up near Newcastle and it really was a proper Geordie celebration.
I had a fantastic time photographing their wedding and I am incredibly happy with the photos, of which just a few are below. I can’t wait to design the album tomorrow and get it under production in Australia!

On a technical side it was the first wedding outing for the 24-70mm f2.8 Nikon lens on the D3 and was accompanied by my trusty old 80-200mm f2.8…such a simple pairing and a joy to use. The quality of the images straight out of the camera and the control of light made easily possible by the SB900 Speedlight, my editing on the new MacPro System with Dual Monitors was a true pleasure…roll on the rest of the season!!!

Hope you both have a fantastic time on your honeymoon in Europe…see you soon!!

James Pearson: Very nice indeed! Really great coverage and moments captured. I really love your processing style, especially the black and white images - the conversions are gorgeous. Glad you're pleased with your recent asset purchases and good luck with the rest of the season; I'll definitely enjoy following it on your blog.

Janet Smithson: Beautiful photos!

Firstly I must apologise for not updating on here for the past month! Its been absolutely crazy trying to get new things in place for the new season and I have been slack in not updating on here but I promise I will endeavor to keep a constant flow of new posts coming for the rest of the year!!

Now onto a brighter note…
Last week I had the chance of a week off so me and Beki went down to Somerset and had a great 5 days camping near Bridgwater. It was so nice to just get out and have a break from the office and we had a fantastic time, and we were very lucky with the weather too!
The area was really nice to see again as I used to stay down there years ago and I think I can safely say we’ll be going back in a few months time…

Here are just a few shots from our week…more updates coming soon!!

An update!!

March 3, 2009

I forgot to post on here to let everyone know – Ste passed his Licentiate and is now an officially recognised professional photographer with the BIPP!!
His panel flew through judging and I think he’ll definitely manage his ABIPP at an earlier age than me (mine’s coming later this year…)
Congratulations to Mr Stephen Woodhams, LBIPP!!

As you all probably know I do bits of commercial work for companies when asked, one of the main being AFBlakemore and the SPAR Group. Peter Blakemore has recently spent nearly £1million on developing his onsite recycling facility which has reduced their waste from their retail by nearly 80% – pretty impressive stuff and theirs new developments coming later this month!!
Yesterday Peter and the staff from AFBlakemores invited children from a local school in Willenhall to come down and have a look around the recycling facility and the work the company is doing and I think it’s safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves.
I was on-hand to cover the morning for AFBlakemores PR department and got a nice coverage for them along with a couple of updated shots of the facility.
It was also the day for the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 bundle of joy to make an appearance on the front of my D3 and what a lens it is…it will definitely be my lens of choice in 2009!

Here are a few shots from the day to give you a feel…enjoy…

Rebecca Honeywell: You've done a great job, looks like you had a fun day!

stuartjames: This is just a small sample of the shots but basically it was showing the recycling facility and the activities they were doing with the kids...got a great set of shots for them and Claire, the head of PR, was very happy with them when she received them today. I prefer doing the more standard commercial work and covering their exhibitions but yesterday was a nice change of pace!

Ste’s Licentiate Panel

February 20, 2009

My brother Ste is going for his Licentiate with the BIPP on Tuesday at Focus and here is the final panel!
Things certainly have changed since I took mine many moons ago with the working profile etc but I think we’ve got there…
Please let us know what you think…and if you’re at Focus on Tuesday drop me a message at twitter.com/sj_p or on my mobile and come and say hi!

We’re all going to be there on Tuesday with everything crossed for him – but personally, I think looking at this panel (and the fantastic printing of it by Loxleys!!) that he should walk it!
Let me know what you think, and don’t forget to drop us a message if you’re around on Tuesday!

James Pearson: Fantastic panel - really great work. All the best to Ste for Tuesday, I look forward to hearing how it went. Shame we're missing each other - I'm going to Focus on Sunday. I hope to go for my Licentiate with BIPP (I'm currently an affiliate member) - any tips would be great!

Mark Hayes: Great stuff, I love seeing an entire set presented in B&W - timeless.

Rebecca Honeywell: Think it looks great, he should be fine! Love that it's all in black and white. They like them to be symmetrical when presented, ie. start and finish with a portrait image, which it looks like you have done. Good luck, let us know how you get on and maybe see you on Tues!

Charlotte and Matt

February 20, 2009

On 15th February myself with Les and Ste from Barry James Photography had the great pleasure of sharing Charlotte and Matthew’s wedding with them at New Hall Hotel and it was a great day.
Charlotte wore a stunning Maggie Sotterro dress from Rebecca Jayne’s at Mix’n'Match in Rugeley and beamed pure elegance and class…looking forward to their big party celebration later in the year now!
Here are just a few photos from the wedding, a slideshow will be following shortly…

A gorgeous ceremony and one of Ste’s gorgeous shots from the day!!

It was a real pleasure to share your special day with you – can’t wait to show the whole wedding to you both!

James Pearson: Wonderful venue and equally wonderful photographs! You've created gorgeous images from perfect locations. I especially love the shots of them on the bridge across the moat and the one where they're walking under the trees.

Rebecca Honeywell: Great venue and pretty bride, what more could you ask for?! Love the black and whites from the ceremony.

Pete Stewardson: Great images, and what a fantastic location.

To do something a bit different this year I took the other half up to the Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath and I must say it will definitely be something we’ll be doing again! Up over 900feet above sea level the snow was still lingering so the views were sublime… Here’s just a couple of shots from at the top of the Heights and one from in the caverns…

Mandy Charlton: Hi Stuart, thanks for the bloggy love! You have some gorgeous photography on here, I had to comment about this one though as I love Matlock Bath, my family all come from Grindleford and so I've spent quite a bit of time in the Peak District, we actually took the girls up on the cable cars last summer and had a whale of a time. It was a little bit warmer than when you were up there!!

beki: So happy! We had a beautiful day... its the little, special , caring things that make the most difference.... we had it this day xx
